Laura Waller, M.S./ M.A.
Laura Waller is a mid-career professional, a former elementary teacher, author, a Nationally Certified Counselor, and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She holds a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Johns Hopkins University, and a second Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. Laura is also an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider. She entered the counseling field after a number of years as a teacher in elementary classrooms in North Carolina and Washington, DC. This classroom background yields a unique developmental perspective when Ms. Waller is working therapeutically with children, teens, and their families.
She currently provides individual and family therapy for clients in the Northern Virginia area ranging from ages eight to sixty plus. She also hosts monthly seminars and groups aimed at supporting parents with a particular focus on raising neurodivergent children. Laura frequently presents workshops for school faculty, church organizations, and parent groups on various topics in the NOVA area with a specific focus on communication between teens and parents as well as using emotional support animals in a therapeutic setting.

William N. Bender, Ph.D.
Dr. William N. Bender has had a long and distinguished career in education, teaching in public school for several years prior to earning his PH.D. from the University of North Carolina. He then taught in higher education for some 26 years at Bluefield State College in West Virginia, Rutgers University in New Jersey, and the University of Georgia. He has written 36 books in special and general education, and many of those were best sellers in the field. He also completed over 500 workshops for educators in the USA, Canada, the Caribbean, and South America.
With his retirement, he has stepped back from his rigorous workshop schedule, that as recently as 2017 included 40 workshop days per year. He has spent more time writing, completing four historic fiction novels and several more educational books in recent years.

During the Covid Pandemic, Dr. Bender was asked to develop and prepare a 30 minute video Keynote for a virtual conference on Project Based Learning in Brazil. That was in conjunction with his book on Project Based Learning (Corwin Press), a book which had been translated into Portuguese. He also did a virtual question and answer study session via Zoom with a school district in New Jersey on childhood trauma.
